Originally I was planning to write a review of a product I bought on Amazon, and provide a link (via Amazon Affiliate) which would set me up to earn some commission if purchases were made. But very soon I noticed that the product itself is no longer available on Amazon!

Anyway, I thought it would be good to document this anyway, as it was a nice purchase. The idea was that I needed a new computer for my partner, and I decided on getting a computer that takes up very small space on the desk. Here’s what the product looks like:

Advantages:

• Does not take up much space on the desk!
• Very quiet (most of these are fanless)
• Low energy consumption (I haven’t quantified it, but there are no fans, and the CPU doesn’t take up much anyway!)

Disadvantages:

• Limiting computer power, storage space (though you can add an SD card, but it sticks out of the case which doesn’t look as nice!)
• As a result of it being low energy consumption, it sometimes struggles to read external USB hard drives (not enough voltage). It helps when you have an external power source for the external hard drive, or if you take up two USB sockets when connecting to the computer, one for power, and one for actual connection to transfer data
• Limited sockets. For our computer there were only 3 USB slots, but we managed as we only need one for the set of wireless keyboard and mouse.
